The Women in Golf Awards
About
The Women in Golf Awards is an annual event celebrating the significant contribution that women, past and present, continue to make to the golf industry. The event was established by Nicole Wheatley and Ben Blackburn whose combined experience in the golf world led them to identify a need to create a platform that would connect, celebrate and inspire.
The Awards bring together women at all stages of their careers, from every sector, showing the diverse nature of the roles women hold in the industry. Last year’s event took place on the evening of Tuesday August 8th, at Walton Heath Golf Club. Applications for tickets to our 2024 event are open, please see below.
The Awards
To reflect the breadth of roles that women fulfil in the industry we added two new categories for 2023, taking the total number of awards to 10. A judging panel made up of 5 independent industry experts chose the winners, who were presented with their awards at the ceremony in August.
Inspirational Achievement of the Year: A special award presented to a person whose contribution or outstanding achievement merits recognition.
Trailblazer of the Year: A special award acknowledging the role this person has made in blazing a trail for the next generation.
Unsung Hero of the Year sponsored by England Golf: A woman whose role may have gone unrecognised or who is inspiring, championing and elevating women in golf.
Brand of the Year sponsored by The British Golf Industry Association: The brand best supporting women at every level of the game.
Venue of the Year sponsored by Women & Golf: The venue that is providing the best experience for women golfers.
Female PGA Coach of the Year sponsored by The Professional Golfers’ Association: The PGA Member who is delivering exceptional support for women golfers.
Rising Star of the Year sponsored by Players 1st: An upcoming industry professional who deserves recognition.
Women’s Initiative of the Year sponsored by PING: An initiative, or a woman/group of women that supports the development of women in the industry.
Women in Turfcare 2023 sponsored by the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association: Celebrating the heroes who work behind the scenes to produce the playing surfaces that make the great sport of golf possible.
